HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This time of year always brings on a renewed sense of wanting to do the 'undone', finish the 'unfinished' and find the 'unfound'... this year instead of being focused on all the 'uns' in my life, I am going to focus on all the blessings and gifts the Lord has given me AND use those gifts for his glory. This change in focus will allow for less feeling of stress and more feeling of an enriched life when I use what the Lord has given me and focus on those unending blessings!

I hope all of you have a Blessed New Year!

Painted NAME Designs

The whole sign craze is going strong. So I thought why not do a watercolor Name sign for my nieces!
The "Marianne" sign is more simple with the letters, bringing in some fun with a floral design...

The "Fiona" sign, I went with a patchwork design for each letter because my nieces bedspread is a country patchwork design.

It's a fun decoration for the wall and it's a nice alternative to the wood designs that could be too rustic for some rooms.

Put it in a frame and hang it on your wall.
It is as easy as that!

Interested... give me a ring ;)

Family name Sign

My husband and I were going to his cousins wedding and I got a little creative for their gift. Using a pencil, stencils (made out of printed letters), outdoor paint and a natural wood stain we had a great gift!

My favourite part was that the wood was from my husband (and his cousins) great aunts property on Lopez Island, WA. It is a piece of history because that is where the family immigrated to from Scottland and it is the last piece of land still in the family past down from three generations.
My husband and I treasure that land for the memories it has given us... we started going there on day trips when we were dating and have gone back every year for camping trips after getting married. Even our oldest boy as had the camping experience there! What get memories! Hopefully are youngest can enjoy it next year with us. :)

The GREATEST part was they loved it!

Paint By Number!!!

Sometimes I want to paint but don't have the inspiration or energy to put into it. I found this paint by number at Tuesday Mornings for $8.00 and had to give it a try!
The paint by number art came out in 1951 by a engineer by the name of Mx S. Klein, who also owned detriots Palmer Paint Company. The box sets sold millions of kits and was deemed Art for the Average Man.
Lots of fun but a little time consuming. If you feel like you are not an artist then find one of these great projects! Great activity and a pretty awesome result at the end... guaranteed!

Happy Thanksgiving! I am Thankful for...

As a Canadian living in the States, I had to get used to the new Thanksgiving date (Canadians celebrate in October). Natural I found myself rushing through November and the American Thanksgiving (which I'm sure many others have too) because of the upcoming Christmas season which tends to promise excitement and lots of festivities.

This year, a good friend of mine challenged me to remember just what Thanksgiving meant to me and what I wanted to pass along to my children.

There are so many things to be Thankful for and getting together as a family to celebrate those things is a wonderful way to start the season. The same friend who challenged me, also gave me the idea (which she has been doing for years) to make a Tree of Thankfulness. As the season goes on, friends and family can put leaves up on the tree, writing down what they are thankful for! I love this idea, because it made me stop and appreciate ALL that I have!

The Lord has blessed me with an amazing husband and two beautiful baby boys, two caring extended families, friends, our families health, a wonderful place to live in a wonderful town and a church that is totally full of love and grace.
What more can I ask for?

This year stop and ask yourself "what am I thankful for?" :)
Leave a comment with some of the things you are thankful for this time of the year.

Get creative by using acrylic paints, paper or I used a canvas that I had laying around. Paint a tree on the canvas and there you have it, a Tree of Thanksgiving! I found these perfect leaf post it pads and used those for the leaves.

Have fun being thankful! :)

Little watercolor doodles... :)

When I have a little time on my hands.... which isn't often... and I want to paint, I make little 'sketch' watercolors that I can use later for inspiration! Here are a few hanging in my little painting corner.

Bubble paint cards or stationary

I loved this idea and had to try it. Just take some bubble liquid and food coloring and blow away on to some card stock (make sure it is heavy enough for the liquid). I made them to thank all the people who came to my sons Bubble Birthday Party! What a great tie to the theme. :)

The Barn Owl, Lynden wa

If you are in the area, Lynden WA, come by and see a really cute local shop, The Barn Owl, all decorated for Christmas! Super cute stuff AND my cards are there!
